Martin Elementary Library Media Specialist Jennifer Georgia received a 2023 GBAPS Education Foundation grant to create a weekly virtual book club with Martin Elementary School students and their families.
Students received a book to take home and read with their families and were provided a package of goodies that were related to the book.
For instance, a character in their book was given a piece of drawing paper and a crayon, so students received a drawing pad and a box of crayons.
The grant supported the District’s literacy goals by encouraging students to get excited about reading.
The book club was well received by both students and their families.
