On June 4, Baird Elementary held its final Wellness Day where students participated in various activities and crafts that covered the four areas of wellness: mind, body, heart, and connection. The goal was for the students to be reminded of how important it is to take care of themselves and make safe and smart choices as they move into the summer months. Baird Elementary partnered with community organizations including: Green Bay Park & Rec, Scouts, Festival Foods, Schreiber Foods, and the YMCA. 

Activities included:  yoga, rock painting, making calming glitter bottles, meeting a therapy dog, and a visit from a petting zoo.

Baird held several Wellness Days throughout the school year, which were partially funded through a $3,500 grant from the GBAPS Education Foundation. 

The main goal of Baird Mental Wellness Days was to dig deeper into student mental wellness by further educating students on the importance of their overall mental wellbeing, teach them that stress is normal, reinforce that all feelings are OK and they all have the power to handle them in a healthy way, to enhance their self-awareness and to foster resilience. When students have these skills and tools to use, their overall mental wellness is in a positive state to help them get through times of emotional dysregulation. In addition, students build confidence in themselves to advocate for their needs, increase their abilities to communicate with others, and take a positive stance towards problem solving and conflict resolution.
