Aldo Leopold Administrative Intern Melisa Messenger received a 2023 Education Foundation grant to fund the creation of “The Nest” at Aldo Leopold Community School. 

The Nest is a mindfulness space where students can self-regulate and then return to the classroom ready to learn. 

The space includes a calming area, a swing, weighted pillows and storage bins for student crafts and toys.

Students in all grades (K-8) use the space and find that they are able to focus and return to their classrooms re-engaged afterward.
